'I WAS A 400-POUND '80s DJ'

$ 20.00

This is not a book about how cool it is to be a DJ.

Rather, it is a collection of short tales shared through my connection with 80's music that boldly bounce from surreal to silly (all while setting the record straight on proper patron-to-DJ etiquette). While most believe a DJ's life is all ‘hands in the air' and V.I.P. parties, my book is here to show the underbelly and reality of its ugly truth.

As the resident DJ of a weekly 80’s dance party in Burlington, Vermont for the last 17 years, I have seen and heard just about everything. Each chapter of my book begins with a verse from an 80’s song, followed by a short story about an experience from my nights that relates to each songs’ individual message.

5.0 out of 5 stars    Great Book!

By Alison R.  on December 13, 2015

This book is a quick, easy read and literally made me laugh and cry. I loved it. It’s especially fun to read when you are familiar with VT but either way, it's a must read. It’s not just for DJ’s…it’s for partiers, and basically anyone who’s ever been a kid growing up. I didn’t want to put the book down! (It also has the most deliciously soft cover).

5.0 out of 5 stars    Hilarious/Ridiculous Stories!

By Matt F.  on August 25, 2015

Not only is this a collection of hilarious/ridiculous stories told by the man, the myth, the legend DJ Fattie B. It's a view into the world of someone who's truly passionate about what they do, it's not just his job, it's his life. It's pretty cool to be able to read a story about someone who has found a calling at a young age, follow it and make a career out of it. I almost finished the book in one sitting.

5.0 out of 5 stars    Such a great book! I loved every story!

By Kristin E.  on September 25, 2015

Such a great book! I loved every story, I laughed and even shed a tear on a chapter or 2 😉. I am lucky to know Fattie B and I will always remember his shop above RJs in Burlington..

Oh and I really think the reality show idea should come to fruition. I would totally watch it! Love to my home state, VT and the greatest city on the planet... Burlington.

5.0 out of 5 stars     Impossible To Put Down.

By David F.  on August 24, 2015

The life of a DJ proves to be both a blessing and a hassle as shown through the words of M.K. Thompson. From his humble upbringing in rural Vermont to his introduction to music, one truly understands where Thompson comes from both literally and musically. Add to that some of the funniest personal club stories you will ever hear, this book is nearly impossible to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars    Why Would You Not Want To Laugh?

By Bree L.  on August 24, 2015

This book is highly entertaining, moving and a real depiction of some of the insanely wacky moments that happen in the industry. It made me laugh, cry and reminisce. Music is power and if you want to hear it's message, I recommend you read this book!
